NEW... For You During

image-Forward Steps Featured Sites This MonthEnjoy my personal selection of this month’s favorite self improvement programs, gifts or products for you.

I favor sites that offer valuable, (usually free) resources which could make a real difference to our lives.

Firstly, I assess the content value and quality, often getting to know the creator or author (more often than not, I will already know them personally).

Then, I check to see if they offer a partnership – not the reverse! I do not endorse something for money, that I would not already consider endorsing for free.

My personal note to you...

Sometimes you’ll find me recommending or presenting, the same product(s) more than one time.

When repeating a training or using a tool that I’ve used, or come across, before - often I “see” something brand new or have a fresh insight/perspective, that I might not have picked up on earlier. Perhaps, in that moment of time, I am finally “ready” to REALLY hear and receive its message or lesson.

It is a bit like seeing a movie for the second time and realizing that I’d not noticed, or remembered seeing, a particular scene from the first viewing.

“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” –Nelson Mandela

When you see something that has already been presented to you once before, then I invite you to revisit it anyhow. Give up any judgement about whether it is “good” or “bad”. It JUST IS and you are alive, so you’re in luck. You get to choose, again!

I love these words from Gelett Burgess...

“If in the last few years you haven’t discarded a major opinion or acquired a new one, check your pulse. You may be dead.”

Several thousands of people, from many countries & backgrounds, receive Forward Steps emails. Everyone is at different stages of their life journey, everyone is looking for different things and experiencing different things.

Some of us learn best by hearing, others are more visual and yet others love to gather information by reading. This makes for a phenomenal challenge, in satisfying everybody’s individual needs and preferences. Even should we assume “that nothing is impossible” - this challenge gives an awfully good impression of “impossible”! :)

We are all different. Seldom one solution fits all. I provide a vast array of resources (hundreds, in fact) to cater for a multi-dimensional audience, and at the end of each email I always add this quote from Bruce Lee...

“Absorb what is useful, discard what is not and add what is uniquely your own.”

Yes, definitely! Forward Steps WILL offer you things to buy...

When we walk into a supermarket, we don’t demand that the groceries be handed over, free! When website visitors only want free, then I recommend that they look beyond the products for sale and “gracefully accept” only those parts of the trainings or programs that are, generously, given away freely by the website’s owner.

Just like in that supermarket, where they might present us with free samplings... Simply enjoy them, for what they are, without complaint about there being items to buy on the surrounding shelves. That’s like being disgusted and upset that Amazon have the spunk to ask money for their books! That’d be weird, right?

Each week, I send something which deliberately has a paid product attached to it, doing my best to see that its free component has great value, as a stand-alone. I present lots of free material, with high value, for Forward Steps readers. Yes, many will offer products to buy and you have choice, by not clicking the buy buttons! :)

Some believe that everything on the internet ought to be free, 100% of the time. Not recognizing that there is a creator (a.k.a. real person) behind the scenes, often working 80+ hours a week in “those quiet hours”, plus not considering the variety of expenses that are associated with an online presence.

I could write a very thick book about what it truly takes to manage, promote and build a business online. Shock, horror! You didn’t know? Yes, Forward Steps is a (my) business. I’m lucky enough, simultaneously, to create also because I love it.

“My first 6 years in the business were hopeless. A lot of times I’d say, ’Why am I doing this?’ That’s why you have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over hurdles, and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don’t have that kind of feeling for what you’re doing, you’ll stop at the first giant hurdle. You simply have to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. Put blinders on and plow right ahead.” –George Lucas

When I left my teaching career after 23 years and chose the path of being an artist, and now the newest path I’m on, this quote describes the experience very well...

"Artists are some of the most driven and courageous people on the face of the earth. They deal with more day to day rejection in one year than most people do in a lifetime. Every day, artists face the financial challenge of living a freelance lifestyle, the disrespect of people who think they should get “real” jobs, and their own fear that they’ll never work again. Every day they have to ignore the possibility that the vision to which they have dedicated their lives is a pipe dream. With every passing year, many of them watch as other people their age; achieve the predictable milestones of normal life - the car, the family, the house, the nest egg. But they stay true to their dream, in spite of the sacrifices. Why? Because artists are willing to give their entire lives to a moment - to that line, that laugh, that gesture, or that interpretation that will stir the audience’s soul. Artists are beings who have tasted life’s nectar in that crystal moment when they poured out their creative spirit and touched another’s heart. In that instant, they were as close to magic, God and perfection as anyone could ever be. And in their own hearts, they know that to dedicate oneself to that moment is worth a thousand lifetimes." -David Acker

The difference between involvement and commitment, is like ham and eggs. The chicken is involved; the pig is committed. Sometimes it’s JUST NOT ABOUT money, it’s about levels of commitment for extracting greatest benefits from the resource.

Example 1
1. A person receives a tool or program for free.
2. This person might not respect it or use it, as their personal investment was zero.

Example 2
1. A person buys a tool or program in exchange for an amount of money.
2. This person has a clear personal investment & will more likely respect/use it.
3. If the experience was positive, this person might even tell others about it.

Example 3
1. A person invents/creates/builds a tool or program, over weeks/months/years.
2. This person knows how much effort and sacrifice was involved in creating it.
3. This person treats it with gratitude and uses it for beneficial purposes.
4. This person knows for sure, its benefits compound when delivered via Example 2.

Not every Forward Steps email will suit you, at the time that it arrives, however, trust that it will be ideal for another person & timed perfectly for them. Simply...

"Absorb what is useful, discard what is not and add what is uniquely your own."
